How to Install a Wireless Card in an IBM ThinkPad A30

Shut the ThinkPad A30 down and remove all connected peripherals and cables. Turn the notebook over and place it on a soft surface. Note that the battery pack is located at the back of the computer. The small plastic tab next to it is the release latch.
Push and hold the battery release latch, then use the raised plastic edge to lift and pull the battery pack out of the ThinkPad A30. With the empty battery compartment facing toward you, the door covering the mini PCI expansion slot is the door secured by two Phillips head screws on the left side of the ThinkPad A30.
Hold the wireless card so that the side with the two antenna cable connectors (also labeled "MAIN" and "AUX") faces up. Slide the gold contact points of the wireless card into the open slot at a slight angle so that the metal clips in the expansion compartment do not prevent the card from going in. When the contact points are fully in the slot, push the top part of the card down until the metal clips lock in to the notches on the sides of the wireless adapter. The card should be solidly in place and difficult to wiggle. If it does not feel secure, pull the clips apart, remove the card and repeat this step.
Connect the antenna wires inside the ThinkPad A31 to the mini PCI wireless card by pushing the connectors on to the card's antenna posts. Make sure that the cable labeled "MAIN" is connected to the post labeled "MAIN," and do the same for the "AUX" cable.
Put the ThinkPad A31 back together by replacing the mini PCI expansion door and two Phillips head screws, placing the battery pack back in to its compartment, and replacing the peripherals and cables that were removed at the beginning of the procedure.
